From September 26 to 28, 2016, invited by Canada Research Chair in Sound Dramaturgy in Theatre, and echoing both his video art installation Try Me Under Water and his philosophical essay How to Pass From One Image To Another ?, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier offered to seven students at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) an intensive video art exploration workshop. In three days, through filming, recording and editing, the participants were invited to take a closer look at what happens during the passage from one image (or sound) to another. To stimulate the invention and creativity of each one, the short film Une catastrophe by Jean-Luc Godard was previously viewed and exhaustively analysed. A selection of the videos produced during the workshop was screened on September 30, 2016 at UQAC Pavillon des Arts during the closure of the colloquium “Contemporary Practices of Textual Writing for the Stage”.
