After doing so during last summer at Parc Montsouris in Paris in June 2022, Trimukhi Platform launched in Kolkata the two books published this year with the support of the French Institute in India. The poetic reading in English, Bengali, French and Santhali (surrounding noises being included) was held at two different heritage houses opposite Maddox Square Park on December 7 and 8, 2022. The event was simple and consisted in a surprising combination of poetic and philosophical extracts taken from “Fabrique de l’Art n°5” and “পৃথিবী থেকে কিছু আসছে তোমার অজান্তে“, whispered, said and/or proclaimed by Didier Talpain (Consul General of France in Calcutta), Surojmoni Hansda (performer from Trimukhi Platform team in Borotalpada Santhal village), Jean-Frédéric Chevallier (Redactor-in-Chief of the magazine and author of the poetry collection) and Maïa Nicolas (choreographer based in the US).

With extracts from texts written by Luis Vicente de Aguinaga, Angeles Batista, Amit Chaudhuri, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier, Joseph Danan, Joy Goswami, Tarik HamdanÉmilie Leconte, Patrice Maniglier, Philippe Ollé-Laprune & Emmanuelle Pireyre selected by Sukla Bar Chevallier, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier, Joseph Danan & Émilie Leconte woven together by Jean-Frédéric Chevallier translated into Bengali by Sukla Bar Chevallier

ABOUT THE BOOKS

The fifth opus of FABRIQUE DE L’ART / FABRIC OF ARTS is above all “literary”, it’s a poetic journey to regain a taste for the diversity of words and worlds. On 192 large-format pages, meet and mingle texts by 28 writers, philosophers, stage artists and architects from India, France, Reunion Island, Mexico, USA, Palestine, Japan and Chad, as, for instance, Mario Bellatin, Charles Bernstein, Sampurna Chattarji, Amit Chaudhuri, Joseph Danan, Joy Goswami, Tarik Hamdan, Anjum Katyal, Koulsy Lamko, Émilie Leconte, Patrice Maniglier, Geoffrey O’Brien, Emmanuelle Pireyre, Bidyut Kumar Roy, Conrado Tostado, Sumana Roy or Gōzō Yoshimasu.

For the dance-theatre performances, the films, the sound art pieces and the nocturnal wanderings that he has directed in Bengal since 2008, Jean-Frédéric Chevallier composes texts or takes up some of those he has previously written in France or in Mexico. ENSUITE DU MONDE QUELQUE CHOSE QUI VIENT / পৃথিবী থেকে কিছু আসছে তোমার অজান্তে brings together in one volume all of them, made of phrases which are at the same time strangely unusual and sweetly poetic. The publication is bilingual French-Bengali. The careful and subtle translation has been patiently elaborated by Sukla Bar Chevallier, co-founder of Trimukhi Platform.
