UNTIMELY THOUGHTS (as per the 2022 tittle) or CHACONNE THOUGHTS (as per the 2023 tittle) is a fascinating approach of the grammar of contemporary dance by four “young” Santhal tribal performers from Trimukhi Platform: Joba Hansda (22), Salkhan Hansda (24), Sukul Hansda (25) and Surojmoni Hansda (21). Subtil sound design and music together with a well-thought video background create a meditative atmosphere for this surprising and moving show. Directed by Jean-Frédéric Chevallier, in close collaboration with Sukla Bar and Dhananjoy Hansda, the artwork was premiered on February 19, 2022 at Trimukhi Cultural Centre in Borotalpada Santhal village during Night of Theatre n°13 then showcased in a more developed version on March 10, 2022 at the French Consulate Garden in Kolkata on the occasion of International Women’s Day organised by Alliance française du Bengale. “The performing art presentation left the audience awestruck,” reports The Statesmanthat evening. “It was poetry in motion, a vortex of art, philosophy and enchanting visuals […] which resembled shooting stars in the galaxy of mind where a thousand words are being spoken through a sound of silence.” CHACONNE THOUGHTS was then showcased in a new version on February 11, 2023 at Trimukhi Cultural Centre for Night of Theatre n°14 and at French Institute in India, New Delhi on March 3, 2023.
